Keys to Success
Take Note from Successful Students...
- Balance the time between work and school.
- Balance the styles of courses you choose each semester. (Pair time
consuming courses with lighter ones).
- Information regarding your declared major can change any time throughout the semester, to receive the most current information, see an advisor each semester before you register for classes.
- Attending every class is critical. (There is always information presented in the lecture that cannot be found in the textbook).
- Dropping or withdrawing from a class is an option. (If you are in a class that isn't going well, talk to your instructor about your options. If you just quit attending, you will probably receive an F).
- Plan on 2-3 hours of homework for every 1 hour you sit in class. (For example, if you are enrolled in 12 credits, you may need to study 24-36 hours a week to do well).
- The final exam is usually not at the regularly scheduled class time. (Be sure to refer to "MyCSI" and/or check with your instructors for the times of your finals).
- Use free-time immediately after class to study while the material is still fresh in your head.
- Decide if back-to-back classes or a scheduled study break works best for you; then schedule accordingly.
- Seek advice or help from your advisor and/or instructors.
